I saw the first show on opening day in Toronto in 1973. I had read the book, so I knew what do expect, but it still knocked me out of my seat. I’ve never in my life seen such a visceral reaction among audience members to a film.

The original, directed by @WilliamFriedkin, was the most technically perfect horror film in cinema history. All remakes or reboots are totally irrelevant.
I've said it before, I'll say it again - it doesn't matter who paid how much for whatever Exorcist spin-off/reboot/blahblah is in the works. None of this can ever touch, affect or change the perfection of the @WilliamFriedkin original. That film stands alone, and always will do.
