When I wrote this song for Top Gun: Maverick, I didn鈥檛 even realize the multiple layers it spanned across the film鈥檚 heart, my own psyche, and the nature of the world we鈥檝e been living in. I鈥檝e been working on it for years, perfecting it, trying to make it ours.

True, but her point was obviously that she wrote the song in 2019 and then a lot happened in 2020-onwards, so the song gained a whole new meaning, like I get what she means. It was supposed to come out 2 whole years ago.
