Revving everyone up for a big night, the Dykes on Bikes kicked off the show in style🏍️
The group has a long history: they patrolled Oxford St in the '70s to prevent attacks on gay and lesbian people, and have led the Mardi Gras parade since 1991.

Traditionally Taylor Sq on Oxford St is where groups take the spotlight. But due to COVID, this moment was recreated at the centre of the SCG.

Here's the ABC! Celebrating its 90th birthday this year 🎂
The ABC will broadcast Mardi Gras for the next three years, including Sydney World Pride in 2023.
The public broadcaster was also the first to screen Mardi Gras, way back in 1994.
