Trains between Epping and Chatswood stopped operating today for the next seven months as the final stage of construction the Sydney Metro Northwest rail link kicks off. There were fears of delays but Sydney commuters have cautiously praised a bus replacement service.

Can anyone explain why the train service between Hornsby/Strathfield/City was not reinstated to divert passengers from the areas of congestion, leaving only those passengers that need to use the Maquarie/North Ryde stops use the pink buses?
