UTas has already started to use “recycled” taped lectures. This model of teaching is ableist, it takes no consideration of neuro diversity, and it’s a fairly subpar standard of teaching. Are degrees going to cost less to reflect the decrease in contact time for students?

An awful decision! One of the crucial aspects of university learning is a vibrant campus environment. Eldest is 3-years into a law degree, 2 of them online & emerging from her final exam yesterday emphatically stated "if it's online again next year no way am I going back!"

This is appalling but not unsurprising news. My kid has suffered through two years of mostly inaudible, poorly recorded lectures with few of the staff choosing to engage with students. UTas should be aiming to retain students, not drive them away.
