A least one huge switch channel (news, deals, and reviews) that reviewed the release ran a segment yesterday about this patch and followed it up with "we didn't finish it at the time of the review" despite highly recommended it lmao

LOL There were a few more reviews published since; one of those was Gaming Age's which said right at the front that the game isn't finishable (and they gave it a C grade, which Metacritic sees as a 50). That's good on them! Then Digital Chumps gave it a 90. "Remake done right."
