People really don't know how little of a social safety net we have until they need it. Newly disabled and can't pay rent? Wait list for Section 8 (that landlords won't even accept) is 15 years. Need food stamps + make minimum wage? You don't qualify. Medicaid? Don't qualify.

literally tried to apply for food stamps and was told i didn’t make enough to qualify. luckily i was still in college and was able to get a meal plan w/ my school but it cost me over $2k to get 🫤
