Why does Aust Post have to make money? Isn’t postal delivery a public service? That’s what we pay tax for isn’t it? Public services?

I don’t know how they did it. Once upon a time out taxes covered roads, public works, water from woah to go, social security, secure banking, sewerage disposal, environment management, parks and gardens. We’re they magicians? Were they superior money managers? Smarter? Wiser?

Postal services are essential services. Postal services should be government services - not a for profit private sector business which doesn’t care about delivering mail to every Australian.
