well we are talking mid sixties and the quality could have been so much better; before dad died, he said that the greatest Soprano was not in fact Callas but Rosa Ponselle but from that age, like Caruso, the recordings were very poor.

Yes, they sound so muddy these days. Are there digitally enhanced recordings available of du Pre?
